SUIT ALTERATIONS

Suit alterations are actually quite simple, once you understand the basic theory. The first thing you need to know is that a garment can only be altered on a seam. You can either “take-in” a seam (make it smaller) or “let-out” a seam (make it larger).

How To Alter Pants

If you’re wondering how to tailor pants, you’ve come to the right place. It can be tricky to find pants that fit perfectly because all of our bodies are different. Just because a store-bought pair of pants is your size, they might not necessarily conform to all the unique contours of your body. Luckily, altering pants is fairly simple.

Can the coat sleeves be lengthened?

In most cases, yes, but only by the amount of fabric that is available under the cuff, up to the beginning of the sleeve lining (the lining is attached to the edge of the fabric). Also keep in mind that if the jacket has “working cuffs”, or “surgeon’s cuffs“, the

Replaced zipper on green leather coat. Zipper selection works well with coat color, installation looks great. Would use again.
Had tuxedo pants needing the waist taken in. They also fixed a defective zipper and shortened them for me which made them look so much better. Worked with me to try on and adjust length quickly with no issues. Got the expedited service and well worth it. Will be back for future jobs!
I've had a couple of items worked on. Sayah did a great job hemming a pair of leather pants for me. Recently, I had a cloak hemmed along the bottom. The lining was longer than the shell. I asked for the lining to be hemmed over and above the shell to give it a nice finished look. It was a bit challenging due to the unevenness. Sayah did a fantastic job. Highly recommended!
I had a great experience with the team here. I brought in a bunch of alterations ranging from a pair of pants that needed a new button and hem, some skirts that required new elastic, and two very old vintage dresses that were slightly too big. Replacing the elastic is easy, and so is hemming pants, but I'll note that the button they chose for my bright plaid 70's pants were thoughtful and good match. As for the two dresses, I was very nervous about one of them. It was made in the 1940s and is in almost mint condition. It has lovely beading all over the front and back. I bought it for a special occasion and was very nervous about doing anything with such a survivor. When I went back to get my clothes both dresses were altered perfectly. I'm also a bit high maintenance and very perfectionistic around my clothes. So with the 40s dress in particular, I did not want it cut or the beads removed, just a seem so that it could be released If I gain weight in the future. That's not easy to do considering the beads were everywhere and you can't just sow through them. But, they were able to pull it off. Also of note, they do leather work. I just dropped off a 70's coat that really needs some love. We talked about a few different options with regard to how to fix it and came to a decision. Very appreciative of the time and looking forward to seeing how it comes out.
